Friday Update

FROM THE OFFICE OF DR. GUAGLIANONE

                       February 27, 2026

Our 6th grade GEAR-UP “Rise-Up” cohort had an exciting opportunity to attend STEM Day at Yakima Valley College on Saturday, February 21, 2026. Students eagerly participated in a variety of hands-on activities, demonstrations, and experiments that brought science, technology, engineering, and math to life. They were especially in awe of the chance to spend the day on a real college campus and even enjoy lunch in the HUB—just like college students. The experience sparked curiosity, inspired big dreams, and gave our students a glimpse into their bright futures.

Students at Harrah Campus recently participated in a meaningful activity focused on strengthening relationships and building a positive school culture. The campus counseling team introduced a “Friendship Jar,” inviting students to reflect on what it means to be a good friend. Students shared thoughtful notes highlighting kindness, respect, empathy, inclusion, and being there for one another. Each message served as a reminder that small acts of care can make a big difference. This simple yet powerful activity reinforced the values that make Harrah Campus strong—connection, compassion, and a shared commitment to supporting one another.

This week at Harrah Campus, 6th grade students proudly presented their Career Exploration Projects in the 5/6 Wing hallway, transforming the space into a vibrant showcase of future goals and aspirations. Students shared their research on careers of interest, highlighted the education and skills required, and explained why those paths inspire them. Staff and fellow students stopped by to listen, ask questions, and offer encouragement, creating an atmosphere of support and celebration. As part of the learning process, students also gathered valuable feedback from peers and staff to strengthen their presentations and deepen their understanding. They will have another opportunity to share their work with parents during conferences, continuing the important connection between learning at school and conversations at home. Experiences like this help students begin thinking intentionally about their futures while building confidence in communication, research, and goal-setting skills.
Our 9th grade students and families participated in an invaluable
"Be College Ready" workshop in partnership with the University of Washington GEAR UP program! During the session, students and families enjoyed a fun activity while learning essential skills to prepare for the college journey, including how to navigate financial aid, create professional emails, develop strong organization habits, and understand the FAFSA & FSA ID process. These foundational skills are critical for college success!
Harrah Campus recently hosted a joy-filled Student of the Month assembly, recognizing students for their hard work, positive behavior, and outstanding attitudes. The auditorium was filled with proud families as the principal and teachers called each honoree to the stage. Students beamed as they received certificates, while parents and guardians cheered and captured the special moments. A highlight of the event was a lively parent participation segment that brought energy and laughter to the celebration. Parents volunteered to answer trivia questions about the school and their children, and even took part in a lighthearted relay race that had the crowd smiling and cheering them on. The added fun made the assembly even more memorable and reinforced an important message: student success is strongest when school and family work together. Events like this continue to build a positive, connected culture at Harrah Campus—one where achievement is celebrated and community support is clearly visible.

Congratulations to our outstanding White Swan wrestlers who competed at the 2026 WIAA State Mat Classic! We're incredibly proud of Anthony Luton (2nd Place), Rainna Castilleja (3rd Place), Max Espindola (5th Place), and Miguel Tinoco (6th Place) for their exceptional performances on the state stage. These four wrestlers demonstrated remarkable hard work, dedication, and skill throughout the season and represented White Swan with excellence at regionals and state. Their commitment to the sport and to their teammates is an inspiration to our entire school community. Thank you for making us proud and for showing what it means to be a White Swan wrestler.

Congratulations on an amazing season!

During National FFA Week, our dedicated FFA students showed their appreciation for our staff by organizing and serving a delicious breakfast! The menu featured fluffy pancakes, scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, and fresh orange juice, a hearty spread that fueled our White Swan High School Staff. This thoughtful gesture perfectly captures the FFA spirit of service, leadership, and community. Thank you to our FFA students for their generosity and hard work in making National FFA Week special for everyone at White Swan. Your dedication to giving back is truly appreciated!

On February 21st and 22nd, White Swan students had an incredible opportunity to attend the WSU Native American Sports Summit! During their trip, students enjoyed an exciting basketball game, participated in a student panel, toured the campus, and engaged with the WSU community. This summit provided our students with valuable insights into college athletics, Native American representation in sports, and the opportunities available at Washington State University. Thank you to everyone who helped make this educational and inspiring experience possible for our students!
