School Districts, like Mt. Adams School District #209, with no tax base get a vote of confidence from Senators Honeyford and King – A NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. of the 2022 Senate proposals to the floor for discussion included our effort from last year to allow school districts that are “land poor” like Mt. Adams School District to be able to accept and utilize New Markets Tax Credits. As stated in the revised bill, “The purpose of this act is to assist in the financing of school district facilities by clarifying how school districts may fully participate in the federal new markets tax credit, federal rehabilitation tax credit program, and similar federal tax credit programs. If this passes, it will be a tool available for MASD to be able to use for future building projects.
NAFIS Update - Supplemental Impact Aid Flexibility Act Scheduled for Vote in House this week – Updated news from NAFIS includes the following:

The 2022 legislative session has begun! The Alternative Learning Department of WASA is closely monitoring a variety of bills that may directly impact the Mt. Adams School District. Input from Elected Officials and community members is welcomed by our state legislators. You can find more information on these bills via the links below.
• Expanding the students experiencing homelessness and foster youth pilot program.
o House Bill 1601
• Expanding access to dual credit programs.
o House Bill 1760
• Concerning high school graduation credit and pathway options.
o Substitute House Bill 1162
• Changing compulsory school attendance requirements for children five, six, and seven years of age.
o Senate Bill 5537
• Concerning enrollment stabilization funding to address enrollment declines due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
o Senate Bill 5563
• Counting asynchronous instructional hours towards those required by the instructional program of basic education.
o Senate Bill 5735
A Yakama Nation Education Collaborative meeting was to be held this week at ESD 105. Mt. Adams School District is a member of this collaborative that will work with multiple school districts to address challenges and opportunities associated with serving indigenous students in the PreK-12 public school setting. The meeting was rescheduled due to an increase in the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus.
Athletics continue this week in spite of our virtual learning. Athletes at the White Swan campus are tested three times per week and this has continued during our virtual week of learning. Wrestling and Basketball have continued and today is no exception when the Cougars face the Scotties from Highland High School Tonight on the Cougar’s home court. Make sure you check our Facebook page for any updates and/or cancellations for athletic games.

No Boys Basketball Tomorrow, Friday, due to a COVID pause in Highland's boys basketball program.
Girls JV will play at 4:30, Boys V will play at 6:00
NOTE about league games: The league has voted that games cancelled due to COVID will not be rescheduled, but rather will be forfeited by the canceling team. White Swan Boys will be awarded the win.


Note: Wednesday's game vs Yakama Tribal will only be girls. As always, in case of any changes, we will post on the app and Facebook


No games this weekend vs Lake Roosevelt and @ Granger. These games will not be made up.

Basketball Game tonight vs Cle Elum has been postponed.

Due to Severe Weather in the forecast, tonight's game vs Yakama Tribal has been postponed. The game will be made up on Wednesday January 19th, 2022. Also, All Practices and after school activities at the White Swan campus will be canceled.

Mt. Adams School District will have regular school hours today, Tuesday January 4, 2022.
All buses will run as usual EXCEPT Route 1 to Medicine Valley. The district is NOT able to send a bus safely on Route 1 ONLY. Students on Route 1 will be excused.
All other routes will be running on time.
