Friday Update

White Swan FFA awarded $5,000 to feed the pigs.  Mrs. Tenney reports that the FFA
program was awarded $5,000 for pig feed from Northwest Farm Credit Services. These
funds will offset the cost of  supplies and pig feed.  A special thanks to "Northwest Farm Credit for supporting our White Swan Future Farmers and students.

White Swan High School is back in the full swing of learning after the holiday break. Principal Tenney and Mr. Muller want to welcome a new team member to the White Swan campus.  Mr. Edwardo Quintanilla has joined us as the new Skyward and District Data Clerk. Welcome aboard Mr. Quintanilla!

On Friday January 13th the White Swan student leadership class will be sponsoring a community blood drive. The drive will begin at 10:00 AM and last until 3:00 pm in the Parker Gym. Students who are 16 years  or older will be able to donate blood. Community members are welcome to come and donate blood as well. Remember one unit of blood can save up to three lives.

On Tuesday Mrs. Tenney and Mr. Muller went to visit the Mabton school district and met with the Superintendent and High School principal. All of the administration was in agreement that we wanted our students to have a healthy competition with good sportsmanship exhibited by both the fans and players. Mrs. Tenney and Mr. Florian, Principal at Mabton High School, will be issuing a joint statement about sportsmanship. Thanks to all of the students, parents, and community members who join together to keep all of our students and fans safe by practicing excellent sportsmanship!

Wrestling Continues after Covid - On Thursday White Swan had a home wrestling mix and match with Goldendale, Riverview, Kittitas, Dayton- Waitsburg, and Granger attending. It is exciting to see our home wrestling matches begin again after COVID. We have a home basketball game tonight against Kittitas and then away games with Goldendale on Saturday. These are both league games. Check out our player, Keegan Wolfsberger who was named by the Yakima Herald as a top scorer. We are very proud of our teams and especially Keegan. Go Cougars!

Please Mark Your Calendars!  A Community Gang Awareness Night will take place on Thursday January 19, 2023.  Dinner will be served at 5:30 pm on the White Swan Campus.  The guest speaker will begin at 6:00 pm in the Parker gym. This event is open to anyone in the community and is especially designed for parents of school age children.  Please plan to attend and bring a friend!

Parent Nights at Harrah- Harrah Campus monthly parent information nights begin this month. Our first will be held on January 25, from 5:30-7:00 PM.   There will be  food, prizes, and information for all who attend. We look forward to sharing our story with the community.

 Jump Rope for Heart will take place again at Harrah elementary.  All K-6 grades will be partnering with our attendance project to provide an additional incentive to participate. Please be on the lookout for dates, times, and expectations for this exciting event for our students to give back to our community!

MS Winter Sports are Starting up - Mr. Manni wants us to remember that Winter Sports are set to begin on Friday the 13th of January.  We have girls basketball and wrestling to look forward to, so please encourage all 6, 7, and 8th grade students to choose a sport and get involved!  Go Mighty Chargers!

Assessments at Harrah Elementary and Mt. Adams Middle School - Students will be taking their winter iReady benchmark assessments over the next couple of weeks. We are looking forward to examining this data to see how well instruction is going and to make adjustments to better meet our students’ needs. Please encourage children to go to bed early, get plenty of rest, and come to school ready to do their best!
