The Harrah Campus had a Holly Jolly Christmas Program this week!  There were about 900 people in attendance for an outstanding performance by Teacher Moore’s music classes.  Hot chocolate and cookies were provided by our new Food Service Company.  Students, teachers, parents, and even Santa seemed to have a jolly time!  I would like to offer a special thanks to those teachers who were present to help with this event – it shows your dedication and support of our students!

Basketball and wrestling seasons are in full swing.  Students are competing to their heart’s content, coaches are keeping students in shape and in the game, while teachers are ensuring that students stay on task in class in order to stay eligible for play.  Parents, it is your role to ensure students are in school and keeping up on their assignment.  It takes a village to play athletics and the District sees athletic events as an extension of learning.

Speaking of athletics, the high school has sent notice that post-season play off games are not part of our regular play and are not sponsored by the District.  The League is the sponsor of the post-season games, so we want the community to be aware that there will be a cost imposed by the league to attend the games.  Cost for post-season games will be $9 for adults and $7 for students and seniors.  Please remember to bring cash for entry to the gym in order to support our mighty Cougars!

A Yakama Nation Convening of all PreK-12 educators was held at Heritage University this week.  There were about 100 educators in attendance learning more about Yakama Ways, hearing stories of Yakama People, and learning new ways to better serve our Yakama students and families.  A special thanks to Mr. Henry Strom and Dr. Bring-him-back Janice for hosting this meaningful event.

This will be the last Friday Update for the 2022 year!  Next week is the winter solstice and we look forward to longer days ahead.  I would like to wish all members of learning community a Blessed Christmas Season and Happy New Year!
