Friday Update

The Last Day of School for 2022 – I sent the following memorandum to the MASD Staff today, “The purpose of this Memorandum is to inform all Mt. Adams School District Staff that the last day of school for the 2021-22 school year will be Tuesday June 14, 2022.  Mrs. Jarnecke and Mr. Thurman completed the required 180-day waiver for this school year to adjust the required 180 days down to 179 days.  OSPI approved the waiver, therefore, the last day of school is Tuesday, June 14, 2022.

The Grounds on the White Swan Campus – Today I was copied on an email from a staff member who noticed the work of others on the White Swan Campus.  Here is the email, “I was leaving the White Swan Campus this afternoon and noticed that the football field and surrounding grounds looked incredible! Green and well-trimmed!  I've been coming to the White Swan football field as a coach, parent, and fan since 1987 and have never seen it look so good!  Thank you Joe Garza, Hector Arredondo, and Zac Napolitano!!! You guys are awesome!!!  Thanks Guys!  And then I replied to the team,  “Hello grounds team - What an amazing compliment from the stands and the fans!  You all are doing great work and this type of unsolicited recognition is the best kind!  BRAVO for a job well done!”

Here are a few of the activities planned for the White Swan Campus.  Principal Tenney provides the following information.  As the year winds down we are planning some exciting activities.

•   On May 23rd we are having an all school send off for the Gold Team members headed to State Finals.

•   On May 25th we will send off our track and tennis state qualifiers to compete at the State level.

•   May 26th there will be a High School signing day assembly in the HS gym from 1:45 to 2:30. All seniors that have signed to

colleges, universities, tech schools, military and other jobs or educational plans will be honored. If members of the Board of Directors would like to attend, please do so, but please do not sit together.

•   On June 2nd we will be holding our Senior Send-off assembly and senior sports recognition assembly. It will take place in the High School gym from 1:45 to 2:30.

•   On June 6th the Middle School will have a PBIS reward dance.

•   On June 8th the Middle School will be having a fun field day activity in the afternoon.

Playground Equipment for the Harrah Campus  - This week, Chad Crawford, Joe Garza, Rob McCracken and I met with the Playologist who will be installing our playground system on the west side of the new building.  The major requirement for the pour-in-place base is seventy- degree weather, which is now upon us.  Another factor is plotting the actual location of the equipment to develop an accurate diagram, which was completed on Monday.  It won’t be long until we will begin the backfill and installation of the playground equipment.

The Lawn at the Harrah Campus is alive and well.  This was the first week that students have been allowed to play on the lawn.  Thank you to all of the students and staff who helped us through the warranty period on the lawn.  We needed to have the irrigation water on for  two mowings before students were allowed to play on the lawn, otherwise the warranty would have been nullified.  Now students can play to their hearts’ content!
