Mt. Adams Team met with Yakama Nation Tribal Council on Thursday

Mrs. Jarnecke and Mrs. Hull were in the lead followed by the rest of the team.  Mr. Gerry Muller gave a run down on our attendance patterns and the great work he and his cadre of staff are doing to support the Yakama students, and all of the students struggling with attendance.  Mr. McCracken gave an update on the new school and provided his vision for Harrah Elementary and Mt. Adams Middle School moving into the next decade.  Mrs. Tenney was pleased to talk about her vision for the “New” White Swan High School.  Principal Tenney is making an effort to re-brand the White Swan campus and to cast her vision for the High School as the Middle School transitions to Harrah.  There are many possibilities as we move into the next era of WS High School and Mrs. Tenney shared some of her ideas with the Council.

The invitations for our Open House at the New Harrah Campus went out this past week.  I hope you will join us for the Big Day on December 16, 2021.  The evening session is from 5:00 to 6:30 PM. Session will include tours of the building, snacks, and some music selections from Maestro Jones and the White Swan Music Ensemble.

The next Maintenance and Operation Levy for Mt. Adams School District will be on the Ballot in February 2022.  We have maintained the $1.50 per $1000 of assessed land value.  Chad Crawford, Rita Babcock and I have been working with our Bond/Levy Attorney to ensure all of the processes and requirements for both the state and the county are carefully followed.  This levy of less than $300K per year opens the opportunity for MASD to receive Local Educational Assistance (LEA) of well over $1 million dollars.  The Levy is the community’s share which then provides the additional LEA funding from the state.  LEA is available only if the District has an active Levy.  Please encourage your constituents to vote for this Levy to ensure future support for the students of the Mt. Adams School District.
