Nurse Nancy at MASD.  We have been able to fill the gap with Nurse Nancy Cortez.  Nurse Nancy is working part time without District and is doing a fine job.  Boots on the ground include our three Certified Nurse Assistants – Luis Sanchez, Jazmin Castellanos, and Nancy Castillo.  School secretaries fill is as needed as do building administrators.  In fact, Mr. McCracken had to get me a band aide last week when the cut on my finger would not stop bleeding.  Nurse Nancy is providing Designation training to multiple staff members, allowing them to take care of the medical needs of our students.  In addition, we still have a Doctor on Call with our HAZEL Telehealth option that comes at no cost to the District.  It takes a village to attend to the health care needs of our students.  Way to go team!
Virtual Student of the Month at Harrah. On the 4th Friday of Every month, the Harrah students and staff will participate in a "virtual" student of the month assembly. Unfortunately, COVID-19 has caused some barriers to the Harrah students and staff from meeting in person. Mr. Hernandez, Mrs. Gasseling, and Mr. Muller would not be deterred. So, they came up with another option!

Teodora Martinez, from Yakama Nation Behavioral Health, will be in our district three, six-hour days to serve McKinney Vento students.  She will work closely with Jodi Sheppard and Lorie Garcia to identify and serve middle and high school students and Cesar Hernandez and Lorie Garcia to identify and serve elementary school students. Ms. Martinez will utilize secretaries to call students to meet with her.  At Harrah, she will be in an office close to the front door and her location on the WS campus is yet to be determined.  Her first day was Thursday, September 23, in Harrah.
