White Swan Campus Athletics is under new leadership.  Mr. Kyle Newhouse comes to the District with a degree and experience in Sports Management.  Our Cougar Football team traveled to Warden for our first football game of the season and the girls had their volleyball season opener at home. This week was a little bit of a challenge with the Football game cancelled with Mabton, then Mr. Newhouse worked very hard and we were able to schedule another game to be played on the Granger field, which unfortunately was cancelled due to unhealthy air conditions.

This year the White Swan campus will double up on ASB advising.  The campus has hired Co-ASB advisors; Mrs. Haggerty and Mrs. Sanchez.  They will share the responsibilities.   Soon, the campus will be holding elections for ASB officers.

Mrs. Tenney is pleased to announce that student clubs will begin soon and the Yearbook advisor has already been hard at work getting students started by gathering pictures and articles. Last year we had a limited amount of time and opportunity for entries to the Cougar Yearbook. This year, we hope to have a full-sized representation of an exciting year!

The District has received several hundred rapid COVID-19 tests.  We will distribute these to the school sites next week and use them for staff and students in order to ascertain whether they should remain in school or if they test positive to go home and seek guidance from their primary physician.

District Safety Protocols are working – There are no new cases of COVID-19 in the District this week.  The past week had zero students on the Harrah campus and five students on the White Swan Campus test positive.  As a result of contact tracing, careful planning by administration, and guidance provided by the Yakima County Health District, there were several students required to quarantine at home for 14 days; the majority of these students returned today.  We have had no staff test positive since the beginning of this school year.  Thank you all for helping us stay safe by masking up, social distancing, and getting vaccinated if you are able!
