Friday Update from Dr. Guaglianone

Cougar Jiu-Jitsu club  -  Principal Tenney reports that White Swan High School has a new Wednesday Club. Nancy Donato is sharing the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with students. The club does not promote violence but provides teachings such as respect for yourself and others, humility and teamwork through the “gentle art” called Jiu-Jitsu. They will be practicing techniques that could help our youth protect themselves and their bodies to get out of potentially dangerous physical situations. During the first day of the club students showed much respect, and supported one another. The students are looking forward to next week’s Cougar Jiu-Jitsu club. Our club is affiliated with Breno Bittencourt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Yakima.

The Second Semester has begun! The first semester on both campuses ended on January 26th.  The students worked hard during the first semester and this is reflected in the first semester grades as reported by Principal Tenney. If students did not pass a class, they will be placed in the Credit Completion Lab so they can make up the missing credit before the end of the year.

Cougar Sports Update - On Tuesday Athletic Director Muller reported that we had our last home basketball game. “The game was “suspended” due to safety reasons in our facilities. The cold wet weather mixed with a large crowd created an excessive moisture buildup inside our gym which led to a slippery gym floor. The game stopped with 6 minutes left and because the game has implications for play off standings we will have to finish the last 6 minutes of the game,” reported Mr. Muller.

Mr. Muller has worked with Granger and the game will be completed on Friday, February 2nd at 6:00 pm in the WSHS gym.

District 5 Wrestling Tournament - Our student wrestlers are at the SunDome for the District 5 tournament and ready for the main event! They are wrestling for a chance to head to Regionals in Tonasket next weekend and then to the Mat Classic in Tacoma!

We wish them all the best!

Go Cougars!!!
