Harrah Campus has a new Music Teacher – Mr. Seth Bergman joined the team this week as the new long-term substitute music teacher. Principal Widener stated, “We are excited to have music and bands being taught regularly and we will be planning a spring concert for June.” Welcome Mr. Bergman!
Jump Rope for Heart! Students enjoyed the annual Jump Rope for Heart assembly this week. Students who are interested in this healthy and happy event will be joining the competition for a variety of prizes. Let’s see who can beat Mr. Hernandez!
Linguistics for all at Harrah – There are four basic language skills: listening, writing, speaking, and reading. These language skills are conversation abilities that allow one to express him or herself clearly and precisely. With these fundamental language skills, people not only learn to speak well but also to listen carefully. In 5th grade this week, students enhanced their linguistic skills by first writing and then orally sharing their experiences during the winter break. What a great opportunity!
No Bullying Allowed on the Harrah Campus! The 6th grader students this week presented what they learned about how to recognize bullying and how to be an upstander during their SEL time. An upstander is someone who sees what happens and intervenes, interrupts, or speaks up to stop the bullying. When an upstander acts during a bullying situation, the person being bullied feels their peers are supporting and defending them, and it may help reduce bullying-related anxiety and depression. Let’s all make the decision to be an UPSTANDER!
Name That Tune! The 3rd grade music students participated in a Name That Tune game as our new music teacher, Mr. Bergman, played songs of varying styles.
