Tribal Council Meeting held this Week - Board President Larry Garcia and I were asked to attend the September Yakama Tribal Council meeting to discuss Impact Aid. The Council passed a resolution to ask the Federal Government to fully fund Impact Aid. Impact Aid is the funding Mt. Adams and other districts throughout the country receive due to the fact that the Federal Government took land off of the tax rolls. Toppenish School District and Wapato School District also attended the session with us to speak to the Council on the importance of Impact Aid funding and to express our appreciation to the Tribal leaders for supporting public schools.
Open Houses were a Success – On Tuesday, the Harrah Campus held an Open House that was very well attended. Teachers, students, and parents were all there in with full smiles talking about expectations of high levels of learning for this year. The White Swan campus did not have quite the attendance that Harrah had, but those who did attend were pleased to meet teachers to discuss expectations for high school learning and participation.
Panther Football and Volleyball are in full swing -The football team were in full pads this week under the direction of their coach Mr. Craig. They are preparing for their upcoming games and learning about safety. Volleyball Coach Helen Haggerty is busy preparing the very large group of girls for their first volleyball game. Students were excited about competing and representing Mt. Adams Middle School as student athletes.
