Friday Update from Dr. Guaglianone

The OSSI (Office of School Improvement from the State Superintendent’s Office) team visit occurred on the Harrah Campus, Thursday of this week. The team was very complimentary of Harrah staff and students and the work that Principal Widener and her team are engaged in to improve student outcomes. Mrs. Widener wrote, “I would like to thank the following teachers for doing such a wonderful job representing us and demonstrating the hard work that we on the Harrah schools are engaged in every day. Thank you: Mrs. Dick, Ms. Johann, Mrs. Chanthavisay and Mrs. Stephenson. We are grateful for you and your hard work.”

Each building is required to develop a Comprehensive Counseling Plan and our counseling teams are right on track to having our plan complete by the end of this year. The District would like to thank Mrs. Sheppard, Mrs. Gasseling, Mr. Hernandez, and Ms. Parse for their service to our students and community as well as their leadership on putting this plan together for OSPI.

Mrs. Stephenson reported to Mrs. Widener that Harrah schools received a wonderful compliment from a counseling agency regarding how our school wraps services around our students in need and works hard to ensure that no student goes without support. The many members of our team across the campus go far and beyond what is required to meet the cultural and diverse needs of all of our students – Way to go team!

Mrs. Widener gives a shout out to our McKinney-Vento Staff.  She reports that they have developed a great relationship with the students and families in our community and work in collaboration with other districts to ensure "soft hand-offs" of our students as needed. Once again, our caring staff provide special care and support to all of our students.

Principal Tenney is proud of White Swan student leaders! In Mrs. Sanchez yoga class, the students became the teachers and lead their classmates through the exercises.

White Swan students are preparing for the Spring feast. Ms. Apodaca, Ms. Aleck, and Albert Squeochs took a large group of students to the mountains to participate in root digging on Tuesday.  On Wednesday, the students worked hard cleaning and getting ready for the feast. The feast will be on April 19th starting at 6:00 pm in the Parker gym.

Spring sports are well underway.  Mr. Manni has provided calendars for the next couple of weeks for our Mighty Chargers.  Mark Your Calendars for Middle School Athletics.
