Friday Update from Dr. Curt Guaglianone
Mr. Miles does it again by expanding College Credit Opportunities in CTE!
We are excited to share that two of our Career & Technical Education courses—WELD 128 (Welding I) and ART 130 (Visual Communications)—have been officially articulated for dual college credit through Wenatchee Valley College. This means students enrolled in these classes can now earn college credit while still in high school, giving them a valuable head start toward technical careers or further education. Registration is now open, and students in Mr. Duncanson’s and Mr. Olden’s classes can sign up anytime this semester. A big thank you to Mr. Miles for leading this work, to our instructors for delivering high-quality, college-level curriculum, and to Wenatchee Valley College for supporting expanded opportunities for Mt. Adams students. This partnership strengthens our commitment to preparing students for life beyond high school with real-world skills, credentials, and confidence in their future.

You Asked — We Delivered! Improved Communication with ParentSquare
Thank you to our families for helping us strengthen communication across the Mt. Adams School District. With the launch of the ParentSquare app this year, we are already seeing a significant increase in how often and how effectively we connect with parents and guardians. So far, 33% of families have downloaded the app—and we would love to see that number continue to grow! We’re proud to share that 77% of families are now receiving emails, 24% are receiving text messages, and the district has exchanged more than 170 direct messages with parents since the start of the school year. Most importantly, 99% of our families are now reachable, ensuring that important information, reminders, and updates are getting where they need to go. Thank you for partnering with us as we continue to build strong, clear, and caring communication throughout our community.

White Swan High School Blood Drive
On October 28th, White Swan High School came together to make a real difference during our school’s Blood Drive! Thanks to the amazing generosity of our students and staff, we collected 22 units of blood, helping to save up to 66 lives. A huge thank-you goes out to Mrs. Sanchez and her dedicated team of helpers for organizing this important event and ensuring everything ran smoothly. Their hard work and leadership made it possible for our Cougars to give back in such a powerful way. We’re so proud of everyone who stepped up to donate and support this life-saving effort.

Culinary Poster Creations Contest: Exploring Careers Through Creativity
Our talented culinary students recently designed creative career posters as part of an exciting classroom project. The goal was not only to showcase artistic skills but also to explore different career paths within the culinary world. Through research, planning, and hands-on creativity, students learned about a variety of opportunities in the food industry from chefs and bakers to food stylists and nutrition experts. The student body had the chance to participate by voting for their favorite poster in each class. Voting took place throughout the day during free time, passing time, and lunch, giving everyone a chance to engage with the project and learn about the many possibilities in culinary careers. Winners from each class were recognized on Friday with a mini pumpkin as a prize. This project encouraged creativity, research skills, and a deeper understanding of culinary careers, helping students see the exciting opportunities that could await them in the food industry.

GEAR UP 9th Grade Trip to Green River College
Our 9th graders had an exciting and eye-opening experience during their GEAR UP trip to Green River College! The students spent the day learning what college life is really like while exploring the campus through a guided tour and a fun, interactive scavenger hunt. They discovered the different programs and opportunities available, helping them envision their own paths to success after high school. In addition to exploring the campus, students learned about financial aid options, scholarships, and other resources that can help make college more accessible. This hands-on experience gave them valuable insight into planning for the future and the steps they’ll need to take to achieve their goals. It was inspiring to see our Cougars so engaged, asking thoughtful questions, and embracing the college experience. This trip was a fantastic reminder that the journey toward higher education starts early, and White Swan students are already on the right path.

Students from grades 9–12 had an incredible experience attending Vandal Generations at the University of Idaho, an event hosted by the Native American Student Center! During the trip, our Cougars explored the campus, attended a resource fair, enjoyed campus dining, and cheered on the Vandals at a football game. A special highlight was reconnecting with White Swan alumni Jeffery Bill, who is currently studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Idaho. Jeffery shared his experiences as a college student and offered inspiring advice, encouraging our students to pursue higher education and follow their dreams. Thanks to this opportunity, our students gained a firsthand look at college life, learned about the many resources available to support their success, and saw how exciting and welcoming campus communities can be. Way to go, Cougars your future is full of possibilities!
